Authorities in Hudson County announced that on Wednesday, November 12, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, Gang Task Force, and the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a 28-year-old male wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in May 2025.

Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello stated that Gerard Rosario, of Jersey City, is charged with Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm.
He was arrested on 38th Street in Union City and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, HCPO officials say.
Shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle crash in the area of Old Bergen Road and Merritt Street in Jersey City, HCPO officials said.
According to Hudson County officials, responding officers located an unresponsive male in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree on Merritt Street.
The unresponsive male – later identified as Devon Reid, 39, of Elizabeth – was discovered with a gunshot wound to the neck, Hudson County authorities said. 
Hudson County officials said Emergency Medical Services transported Reid to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 7:16 p.m.
