Man Arrested for Deadly Stabbing at Jersey City Light Rail Station

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said the  Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of Mr. Kenneth Brown, 49, of Jersey City, at the Danforth Avenue Light Rail Station in Jersey City.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, Mr. Anthony Bell, 37, of Jersey City, is charged with Murder and, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, among other charges.

Prosecutor Suarez said he was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Saturday and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

On Friday at 11:37 p.m., police were notified of an injured person on the platform of the Danforth Avenue Light Rail Station.

Responding officers found a male – later identified as Kenneth Brown, of Jersey City – with an apparent stab wound to his upper body.

Prosecutor Suarez said Emergency Medical Services transported him to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:34 a.m. on Saturday, January 29.

 The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
