Man Arrested for Allegedly Selling Drugs at The New Community Corporation Housing Complex in Newark

Newark Police reported the re-arrest of Furad Fleming, 18, of Newark who they said was arrested within an 11 day time span for controlled dangerous substance possession and distribution on Sunday February 12th and Thursday, February 23, 2017.

According to authorities, Newark police, responded to the New Community Corporation Complex to investigate citizen complaints of a man selling drugs near in the area.

Authorities said near the intersection of Hayes Street and 15th Avenue, police arrested Fleming who was in possession of 95 glassine envelopes of suspected CDS heroin and $154.00.

Fleming was charged with Possession of CDS (heroin), Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute, Distribution of CDS Within 1,000-ft. of a School and Distribution of CDS within 500-ft. of a Public Library authorities said.

On Sunday, February 12, 2017, Fleming was arrested, also in the Central Ward, after police officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and found Fleming in possession of 548 glassine envelopes of suspected CDS heroin, 18 clear vials of suspected CDS cocaine, a plastic bag of suspected CDS marijuana and $380.00 in cash according to authorities.

In this incident, Fleming was charged with Possession of CDS, Distribution of CDS, Distribution of CDS near a Public Park and Distribution of CDS on School Property.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
