New Jersey State Police reportedly arrested a man armed with multiple knives inside the American Dream mall Thursday night after authorities received reports of threatening behavior inside the massive Bergen County entertainment and shopping complex.
According to preliminary information obtained by RLS Media, the incident unfolded at approximately 9:27 p.m. near Dream Nails on the third floor of American Dream.
Authorities initially received a report of a man dressed in black who allegedly threw a knife toward a woman.
The situation escalated when the man reportedly called 911 himself and allegedly indicated that he intended to begin causing damage in the mall’s food court.
New Jersey State Police responded and quickly located the individual. He was taken into custody, and authorities reportedly recovered multiple knives from his possession.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, and additional details regarding what prompted the incident or potential charges against the suspect were not immediately available.
Because information surrounding the incident remains preliminary, authorities have not confirmed whether the suspect intended to harm additional people inside the mall.
