Man Accused of Pointing Gun at Woman in Newark

Police in Newark are reporting the arrest of **Mr. Jason Lamont Dixon, 37, of Newark** and formerly of North Carolina, for an aggravated assault and weapon possession in an incident that occurred Monday night.

According to police, at approximately 8 p.m., police responded to a dispute in a high-rise apartment building on Dayton Street involving a man and a woman.

Police alleged that the man pointed a gun at the woman during the quarrel.

When the officers arrived, they found the suspect, Mr. Jason Dixon, in possession of a .38 caliber handgun when they immediately arrested him.

Police said the gun was reported stolen out of North Carolina.

Authorities charged Dixon with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Receiving Stolen Property.

These charges are merely accusations.

**Mr. Dixon** is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
