Police in Essex County are on the search for suspects who occupied vehicles when they used paint guns to reportedly commit unprovoked attacks on residents in East Orange and West Orange earlier this Tuesday afternoon.
According to preliminary information, shortly before 2 p.m., several calls were made to both police departments reporting suspect armed with rifle-like paint guns targetted pedestrians and fired rounds of paint from moving vehicles before speeding away.
Police say they searched both cities for a grey Toyota Camry and a newer model Dodge Charger.
Newark Police observed the two vehicles in the West Ward then tried to pull the cars over when the drivers refused.
The short pursuit was broken off near Sandford Avenue and the suspects fled back into East Orange.
There were no serious injuries reported.
