Male Stabbed in Attempted Carjacking in Newark's North Ward

There is an active search for several suspects wanted for a violent attempted carjacking that left a man injured in Newark's North Ward Friday. 

The early morning incident happed around 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Delavan Avenue and Seabury Street. 

Police said the victim reported that three suspects approached and demanded the keys to his car while attempting to return to his vehicle when one of the suspects began to attack the victim physically. 

During the tussle, police say the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the arm before all of the suspects ran from the scene. 

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment after waiting quite some time for an EMS unit that were overbooked and handling over a dozen other incidents in Newark at the same time. 

He is expected to make a full recovery, police said. 

Police say in an earlier incident, they believe that the same suspects pushed a woman to the ground near Park Avenue then took her Toyota Corolla around 1:45 a.m. 

The woman did not suffer serious injuries.
