A violent shooting in Newark's South Ward on Sunday evening is under investigation after when a man was fatally shot by an armed suspect.NinosThe Newark Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at around 8:40 p.m. in the area of 325 Osborne Terrace.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified male with a gunshot wound to his head lying on the ground.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a grim discovery for local authorities. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office arrived to take charge of the investigation, seeking to uncover the details surrounding the violent encounter. 

The suspect responsible for the shooting has fled the scene and remains at large. Police are searching for the assailant and are investigating the motive behind the shooting.

This incident has shaken the community, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
