Authoritites in Essex County are investigating the motive behind a deadly shooting in Irvington Township Friday night.
The violent shooting happened in the area of 121 Maple Avenue around 10 p.m.
Township officers rushed to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired and when they arrived, police found the unconscious and unresponsive victim struck by bullets.
The injured was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation into the homicide and no suspects have been arrested.
CORRECTION: An earlier report erroneously stated that the victim was rushed to University Hospital and pronounced dead. The victim died at the scene.
