The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has taken the lead in an investigation of a shooting that killed a person in Jersey City early Friday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 252 Bright Street shortly before 1:50 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
The unconscious and unresponsive male was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
Investigators have not released a motive for the shooting at this time.
The suspect remains at large.
