Police in Newark are looking into the motive for a stabbing that injured a male at a location in the city on Thursday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police and EMS rushed to the vicinity of 54 First Street to investigate reports of a person bleeding at around 5:30 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene found the victim suffering a severe stab wound in his stomach.
Police say the victim was transported to University Hospital where doctors treated his injuries then listed him in serious condition.
According to the victim, the incident occurred in the area of Roseville and 7th avenues just before police found him.
There were no other injuries or arrests reported.
