Essex County authorities are on the search for suspects wanted for a shooting that injured two victims in Newark's central business district Sunday night.

A preliminary investigation indicated that officers responded to reports of shots fired near 47 Edison Place around 9:30 p.m.

Units arrived at the scene and requested additional officers for crowd control on the short street that had  several bars and the Prudential Center  across the street.

A male victim was found suffering a bullet wound to his face. Police say a second victim sustained bullet wounds to his legs.

Both individuals were transported to University Hospital for treatment. At the same time, cops investigated a vehicle collision reportedly linked to the shooting just outside the Martin Luther King Court House at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation, and no suspects have been charged.
