Police in Newark are actively investigating a double shooting incident that shook the South Ward community on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. in the vicinity of 103 Hillside Avenue, where officers responded to reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, Newark Police discovered a male and a female victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Both individuals were promptly transported to University Hospital for urgent medical attention. The male victim is reported to be in severe condition.
Newark's Shooting Response Team promptly joined the investigation to aid in gathering evidence and conducting inquiries.
As of now, the motive behind the shooting remains undisclosed, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
