Good morning, New Jersey. We’re waking up to bitter cold temperatures as we prepare for what may be the biggest snowstorm of the season so far.

AccuWeather has issued a Winter Storm Alert for our region.

If you’re heading out early,  especially to the bus stop,  it’s a frigid 26°F, creating ideal conditions for any incoming precipitation to quickly turn into snow and ice.

Higher-elevation communities in North Jersey, including areas such as Sparta, could see totals approach 10 inches.

Today’s Forecast

Snow is likely, mainly after 5 p.m., with increasing clouds and a high near 31°F.

Wind-chill values will range between 15° and 20°, with light winds shifting from north to east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%, with about one inch of daytime accumulation expected.

Tonight

Snow will continue — and may be heavy at times. Temperatures will slowly rise to around 30°F by 2 a.m.
