Lyndhurst Police lost track of a vehicle in Newark after they chased the car several miles Friday morning.
Officials say the Bergen County Police department attempted to pull over a grey Honda Accord within their city limits around 10 a.m. when the driver ignored officers' lights and sirens then sped away.
Police say the pursuit made its way in the southbound lanes of NJ-21, where officers lost the speeding confirmed stolen car near Bridge and McCarter Highway.
The vehicle had a reported NJ license plate number "S55-LLK" and was only initially wanted for being stolen during the chase.
Newark Police were notified of the pursuit but did not participate in the chase.
