Lodi Police Arrest Garfield Man Accused of Stabbing Girlfriend's Ex

A Garfield man has been charged with stabbing his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend at her Lodi home this afternoon. 

Lodi police responded to 161 Central Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. 

Sergeant Christopher Perrelli confirmed the incident and gave a description of the actor who fled on foot. 

Detective Jones and Detective Rodrigues located the actor - later identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Damico - who still had blood on him while he walked on Washington Street near the Burger King.

According to police, Damico was hiding in a closet with a kitchen knife at his girlfriend’s house after finding out the girlfriend's ex-boyfriend was outside the residence to see who she was presently dating. 

The victim found Damico hiding in the closet and a physical altercation ensued. 

During the altercation, Damico struck the victim several times in the chest with the kitchen knife. 

The girlfriend injured herself on her forearm as she pulled the knife from Damico.

Both victims were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center.

It is unknown at this time the extent of their injuries.

Damico was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and weapons charges.  

Bail was at 15,000 with 10%.
