According to Principal Oscar Guerrero, the incident began when one student allegedly made a threatening remark toward others during an argument.

School leaders quickly enacted safety protocols while the situation was reviewed.

Administrators, the West Orange Police Department, and the superintendent’s office first placed the building in a shelter-in-place status, followed shortly by a full lockdown as a precaution.

“These protocols were initiated to make sure that our school remained secure while the report was investigated,” Guerrero said in a message to the school community, emphasizing that “at no point was any student or staff member in danger.”

After the investigation, administrators determined the situation had been resolved and normal activities resumed.

No injuries were reported.

Guerrero thanked students and staff for their cooperation, noting that “the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.”

Authorities have not released additional details about the student involved as the review continues.
