Light Rail Service Halted in Jersey City After Person Struck, Killed

NJ Transit Police are investigating a fatal train strike that occurred early Saturday morning in Jersey City.

According to initial reports, service on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail was halted between Liberty Avenue and West Side Avenue after reports came in of a person being struck by a train shortly before 12:30 a.m.

When emergency personnel arrived, they pronounced the unidentified individual dead at the scene. 

The investigation remains active and ongoing, and officials have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
