A violent crash that trapped two people in a vehicle on Rt. 21 in Newark has authorities investigating.
Several calls to 911 reporting crash with several people possibly trapped, sent first responders from University Hospital's Rescue, Newark Fire Department and the Emergency Services Unit from the Newark Police Department to Rt. 21 near 3rd Ave. at around 2:30 a.m. where intense efforts by crews were performed to removed two trapped occupants that were inside a vehicle.
First responders pulled the victims from the vehicle with at least one of the victims suffered life threatening injuries while the other victim was unconscious according to reports.
Both victims were transported to University Hospital where as of 4:30 a.m. there were no confirmed fatalities.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
