A violent overnight stabbing that occurred in the city's Central Ward has a man fighting for his life this morning in a hospital.
Good Samaritans rushed to the aid of a man found in the 100 block of Clinton Avenue bleeding heavily after suffering a brutal stab wound to the chest according to reports.
The incident happened just outside a Clinton Avenue strip mall that houses a Family Dollar, and Ambassador Fried Chicken sent emergency responders to the scene at around midnight where they arrived to find bystanders applying pressure to the victim's bleeding wound according to eyewitnesses.
EMS rushed the victim to the hospital where as of 2:30 a.m. his condition was reported as critical.
Police set up a crime scene where they searched the area for evidence and launched an investigation.
The identity of the man and motive for the stabbing has not been released at this time.
