Leonia Authorities Search for Suspects Wanted for Theft of Wheel Chair

According to authorities, a motorized wheel chair worth $12,000 and belonging to a 14 year-old resident suffering from Cerebral Palsy was stolen from the front of a building located on the 200 block of Broad Avenue.

The theft was captured by video cameras.

There were at least two subjects involved in the theft. One of the subjects drove the wheelchair away from the building and headed south on Broad Ave.

Authorities said that they are in the process of enhancing the video of the two subjects and will be posting the video either tonight or tomorrow morning.

The description of the two subjects is as follows:

Subject 1. Light skinned Hispanic male, possibly late teens, approximately 5'6", 150-160 pounds, dark hair wearing a white Adidas shirt, black and white shorts, black sneakers and black socks and was carrying a black leather backpack.

Subject 2. Asian male, possibly late teens, 5'6 to 5'7", 140 pounds, wearing a black and white striped shirt, black shorts and black sandals.

"Our PBA is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the wheelchair and the arrest of the two involved subjects" authorities said.
