Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

It’s a refreshing start to the day across Newark and much of North Jersey as cooler temperatures and calm breezes mirror Tuesday’s pleasant conditions. As of 4:30 a.m., it’s 71 degrees at the corner of West Market Street and First Street in Newark, with light winds making it feel exceptionally comfortable for early commuters and residents heading to the bus stop.

According to the National Weather Service, today will remain mostly sunny with a high near 85 degrees.

Winds will shift from calm to a gentle breeze out of the south at 5 to 8 mph during the afternoon.

However, residents should enjoy the cooler air while it lasts; hazy, hot, and humid weather is expected to return Thursday, bringing back steamy summer conditions.

Tonight’s forecast calls for mostly clear skies with a low around 69 degrees.
