Lakewood Shooting Hospitalizes Four at Sports Complex

Last evening at approximately 9:40pm Officers responded to a gathering at the Brook Road Sports Complex after receiving a phone call from a woman who stated that she was headed to a hospital with a gunshot victim.

The unidentified caller did not provide any additional information.

While in route, Monmouth Medical Southern Campus Hospital called and stated that several gunshot victims has just been dropped off.

Upon arrival at the Sports Complex, Officers located an additional victim, with an apparent gunshot wound to his leg.

The 28-year-old Englishtown man was transported to Monmouth Medical Southern Campus by Lakewood EMS.

Officers arriving at the hospital observed a small crowd of party goers in the lobby of the emergency room.

Once inside they were advised that a 30 year old women suffered a gunshot to the abdomen and a 53 year old man and 24 year old man each suffered a gunshot wound to a leg.

All three of those victims are from Lakewood. The 30 year old woman and the 53 year old man were both transferred to Jersey Shore Medical Center for further evaluation, while the other two remained at MMSC Hospital. All are expected to survive.

In addition, a vehicle believed to have transported at least one of the victims was left abandoned in front of the Emergency Room.

Further investigation resulted in the recovery of a firearm.

Officers at the park began questioning those present to try and locate potential witnesses. As a result, Jahquan Fenn, 25, of Lakewood, was arrested after Officers discovered a firearm he was trying to conceal under his leg while he was a passenger in a vehicle that was trying to leave. In addition, two females, 21-year-old Donaysha Peace of Waretown and 20-year-old Sanaya Smuoone of Lakewood were both charged with the possession of a controlled dangerous substance and another firearm was located on the ground between two parked cars.

No one has been charged with that at this time.

Assisting with the investigation is the Monmouth Medical Southern Campus Hospital Office of Security and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene and K9 Units. Additional support was received from both the Howell Township and Jackson Township Police Departments.
