Lakewood Police Investigates Viral Video of Student Nearly Being Struck by School Bus

Lakewood Township

The viral clip, captured by a home surveillance, triggered an investigation after the student nearly escapes being struck by the school bus he was on.

According to authorities, over the weekend the Lakewood Police Department was alerted of a video shared on multiple social media pages that showed a young male student nearly being struck by the school bus after getting off.

Officials say the bus appears did not have functioning safety equipment, specifically a safety arm, designed to prevent potential tragedies caused by an obstructed view.

An investigation conducted by Officer Alexander Guzman of the Lakewood Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit, revealed that the unreported incident took place around 4:15 p.m. on February 14th. Officer Guzman was able to identify the neighborhood in the video and subsequently locate the 7-year-old student's home.

Upon speaking with the child's father, he confirmed that the event was not reported to law enforcement as he wished to address the matter through the school, later identified as Toras Yisroel of Lakewood.
