Lakewood Police Investigate Attempted Kidnapping Incident

The Lakewood Police Department is actively investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred on Thursday night in the area of Forest Park Circle.AdThe distressing incident, which took place around 7:30 p.m., had police rush to the scene after a 9-1-1 call reported the situation. 

According to police reports, a teenage girl was nearly abducted by a man, described as either black or Hispanic, who tried to force her into a white SUV.

In a brave act of resistance, the young lady managed to escape from the assailant's grasp, leading the perpetrator to flee the scene.

The police, with the help of members from the Lakewood Shomrim, a local community safety patrol, conducted a thorough search of the area.

During their investigation, authorities were informed of a similar incident occurring in a neighboring town, raising concerns about a possible connection between the two events.AdHowever, it remains unclear if the incidents are related.

The Lakewood Police Department, in collaboration with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department, is following up on several leads to bring the suspect to justice.

The investigation remains active and law enforcement officials are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in solving this case.
