Passaic County officials announced that at approximately 3:15 p.m., on Wednesday, police responded to Greenwood Lake Turnpike north of Skyline Drive in the Borough of Ringwood, in response to a head-on motor vehicle collision.
According to officials, a 1999 Toyota Corolla, being operated by Mr. Victor Weinpel, 19, Wanaque, hit the guardrail, then lost control of the vehicle crossing into the opposite lane, striking a 2014 Chevy E250 van head-on.
Police say Mr. Weinpel, and his passenger, a 17-year-old male from West Milford, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chevy van was being operated by a 64-years-old of Ringwood who was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
