Labor Day in Newark Brings Sunshine, a Picture-Perfect End to Summer

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

As Labor Day begins over Newark and the North Jersey region, residents are waking up to yet another beautiful morning, capping off what has been one of the most pleasant holiday weekends of the summer.

At 4:30 a.m., it was a comfortable 67 degrees at the corner of Lyons Avenue and Bergen Street in Newark’s South Ward.

The air is crisp, the skies are gradually clearing, and there’s a sense of calm as families prepare to enjoy the final day of the long weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, today will bring mostly cloudy skies in the morning, gradually clearing to become sunny with a high of 75 degrees.

Winds will shift from the north to the east throughout the day, making it ideal weather for picnics, parades, or one last trip to the Jersey Shore.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 64.

As we enter the first week of September and students gear up for their return to school, the stretch of pleasant weather is expected to continue—though forecasters anticipate some rain later in the week.

Enjoy this simply beautiful unofficial end to summer, New Jersey!
