Knifepoint Carjacking Under Investigation in Bound Brook

Somerset County authorities have launched an investigation into a carjacking that occurred in the late evening hours of Friday, August 6, in Bound Brook 

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on August 6, at approximately 10:03 pm, Bound Brook Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a carjacking in the area of Talmage Avenue and Fisher Avenue.  

Upon responding, officers spoke to the victim, a Bound Brook adult male resident, who stated he parked on the side of the road briefly to assist his passenger in exiting the vehicle.  

Authorities said when returning to the vehicle, the driver was approached by two unknown males who presented a gun and a knife and demanded to take the vehicle.  

The two males described as being early 20’s, medium height and thin build, wearing all black clothing with black ski masks entered the vehicle and proceeded towards Bridgewater.  

According to Middlesex County authorities, The victim was not injured.  

Police said that the vehicle was a 2011 Gray Hyundai Sonata and that it was recovered later that evening in Middlesex Borough as an abandoned/disabled vehicle.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene along with detectives from the Bound Brook Police Department to conduct an investigation.  No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
