Keyport Crash Leaves Motorcyclist with Amputated Leg

An early morning single-vehicle crash sent a 44-year-old man to an area hospital with serious injuries.

According to Keyport police, at approximately 5 a.m., the motorcyclist - who was traveling on Route 35 near the Garden State Parkway entrance - for unknown reasons went off the road, hit a yield sign in the center median and had his leg amputated.

The unidentified man was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
