A 20-year-old Kearny woman was killed and a Newark man was seriously injured in an early-morning crash on Interstate 280 in Harrison on Sunday, August 16.
According to New Jersey State Police officials, the crash occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on the westbound side of I-280.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a Honda driven by a 24-year-old Newark man lost directional control, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a traffic sign support and then collided with multiple trees.
The front-seat passenger, identified as Adamaris Mishell Tipan Gonzalez, 20, of Kearny, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
New Jersey State Police are continuing to investigate the cause and circumstances of the crash.
No additional information was immediately available.
