'Kai the Hitchhiker' Accused of Killing Clark Lawyer Claims Evidence was Mishandled

Clark

'Kai the Hitchhiker' - man accused of killing a Clark lawyer in 2013- posted a letter on the internet, claiming mishandling of evidence by investigators in his case that would have proven his innocence.

McGillivary who is accused of killing Joseph Galfy on May 12, 2013 in his Clark's home.

According to police, on May 13, when Galfy failed to appear at his law office in Rahway, police responded to Galfy's home for a wellness check and that's when officers found him dead.

Investigation revealed that Galfy and McGillivary met "by chance" in Manhattan's Times Square on May 12, and returned to Galfy's home where was later found beaten to death.

McGillivary was considered as a suspect after authorities were alerted of a Facebook post indicating he had been drugged and sexually assaulted.

After McGillivary left the Clark home, he traveled to Asbury Park and later made his way to Philadelphia were he was arrested.

In his letter, McGillivary address to Gov. Chris Christie, requests help in his criminal case.

He claims that a failure to use a rape kit, neglect to collect samples for toxicological analysis, or failure to collect many items that could have been used to drug him, among other things would of proofed the assault that occurred.

In the letter, Caleb "Kai" McGillivary goes on to say,"How can I be expected to prove my innocence when the prosecutor gets rid of any evidence I could use to show I was defending myself from a drug-facilitated sexual assault. The UCPO (Union County Prosecutor's Office) seems to think because I'm an indigent illegal immigrant from Canada, they can violate my procedural rights without consequence. This is an outrage."

No comments have been issued by the Union County Prosecutor's Office nor the Union County Deputy Public Defender Peter Liguori, who is representing McGillivary.
