According to Jersey City officials, on October 21, 2025, at approximately 11:19 p.m., officers responded to confirmed shots fired in the area of Van Nostrand and Ocean Avenues. No injuries were reported.

Nearly two weeks later, just after midnight on November 6, 2025, officers responded to another confirmed shots-fired incident in the area of 102-106 Rutgers Avenue, Jersey City officials stated.

While no injuries were reported, several parked vehicles sustained bullet damage, JCPD officials say. More recently, on January 10, 2026, JCPD officers responded to a report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers engaged in a foot pursuit with a suspect matching the caller’s description.

JCPD officials said the suspect was apprehended, and a handgun was recovered. Subsequent ballistic analysis confirmed that the recovered firearm was used in both of the earlier shooting incidents.

Following further investigation, the Ceasefire Unit obtained a warrant for the juvenile suspect’s arrest, according to Jersey City officials. On February 9, 2026, members of the Ceasefire Unit, with assistance from the JCPD Street Crimes Unit, arrested the suspect on Bidwell Avenue without incident.
