Juvenile Arrested After Fight Outside of Newark High School

Newark

Several days of commotion that had an unusual amount of Newark North Ward police units and Newark Public School security personnel on patrol did not appear to cease the actions of several students who engaged in confrontation that occurred at the Barringer High School on Wednesday afternoon.

According to parents and residents on Parker Street who contacted RLS Metro Breaking News, Wednesday's incident has been brewing and out of control for over a week with juveniles bunched in groups taunting each other in an effort to engage in physical confrontation near the school.

Newark Police officials pushing units to the scene took a male juvenile into custody at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Park and Highland avenues during the confrontation.

Police have had a strong visible presence in and around Barringer for well over a week where they requested the assistance of Essex County Sheriff's Department with the ongoing incident around Park Avenue.

There were no reports of serious physical injuries reported.
