There is an active homicide investigation underway as authorities look into a shooting that killed a man Monday night in Jersey City.
According to a brief statement released by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Peace Drive and New Hope Lane at approximately 8 p.m. sending police to the scene where they arrived to find a male victim suffering a gunshot wound at that location.
EMS rushed the victim to Jersey City Medical Center where authorities say doctors pronounced him dead a short time later.
The motive for the shooting has yet to be determined.
Authorities have made no arrests at this time.
