Jersey City Police Investigate Violent Assault Robbery Report

Police are investigating a violent robbery assault reported last night that left sent the 59-year-old unconscious victim to the hospital.

Officers responded to the area of Hutton Street between Central and Summit avenues sometime around 9:30 p.m. for a report of a robbery.

Upon arrival, police spoke to the caller whom told them told that after hearing a loud noise outside, she looked out and saw the victim on the sidewalk while two males -wearing dark clothes - fled on Hutton Street.

The victim, who could not provide a description of the suspects, told police that he was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object.

He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health with non-life threatening injuries.

According to the victim, the suspects took his black shoulder bag, which contained work clothes, a black wallet and his Samsung cellphone. 

No arrests have been made. The incident remains under investigation.
