Law Enforcement Officers from across the tri-state area attended 'A Walk to Remember' Saturday morning. The 5k walk in Liberty State Park organized by Jersey City Police Detective Benevolent Association, honored the 118 Law Enforcement Officers nationwide killed in the line of duty.
Organizers are using proceeds from the sales of tee shirts, hats, and donations to benefit a scholarship fund set up for the younger brother of Jersey City Police Department Detective Melvin Santiago who was killed in an ambush attack last summer. Family members for slain NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos was also in attendance for the walk.
The names of all fallen 118 law enforcement officers, as well as their respective departments and "Ends of Watches" were held up facing The Freedom Tower during a 118 second moment of silence during the event.
The walk was led by a motorcycle motorcade from the Jersey City Police Department.
