Jersey City Officer Injured by Cement Piece From New Trump Tower

A city officer remains in the hospital this afternoon after a piece of concrete block from the new Trump tower fell on the officer.

According to witnesses, police responded to Greene Street around 11 a.m., for report of an injured officer.

Upon arrival, the alert officer was transported to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, where is said to be in stable condition and is expected to be released early this afternoon, according to officials.

Greene Street from Columbus Drive and from Morgan Street was closed off and construction was shut down for the day.

The incident remains under investigation.
