Jersey City Man Pleads Guilty in Shooting That Killed One, Wounded Two

Jersey City

A 21-year-old Jersey City man pleaded guilty Wednesday to murdering a man in 2016 and wounding three women.

Officials say on Sept. 11, 2016, Kenneth L. Barnes shot Shaheer Parson, 35, also known as Arkbar Riley, on Van Wagenen Avenue. Parson - who was found with a head wound - was pronounced dead between Pavonia and Sip avenues shortly after 2 a.m.

Police that morning located two women, ages 32 and 24, suffering gunshot wounds. They were transported to the Jersey City Medical Center.

Officials say Barnes was arrested on Dec. 14, 2016, and pleaded guilty yesterday before Hudson County Superior Court Judge Mark Nelson. Barnes is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 19. He could face up to 15 years in prison.
