Jersey City Man Injures Two Officers During Sentencing of Newark Man Who Fatally Shot Brother

Newark New Jersey

A 29-year-old Jersey City man was arrested today after allegedly attacking three Essex County sheriff's officers during the sentencing of the Newark man who fatally shot his brother.

Rahmel Belle stood up while his mother was addressing the court and began approaching towards George Jones while using explicit language.

Belle was quickly escorted to the hallway by a sheriff's officer. In an attempt to re-enter the courtroom, Belle allegedly rammed into three officers.

The two officers who suffered minor injuries were treated at the scene.

Belle was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count each of resisting arrest and obstruction of government functions.
