Jersey City Man Found Guilty of Murder in Connection with Double Shooting

Authorities in Hudson County announced that on Monday, June 9, a Hudson County jury returned a guilty verdict against Omire Rios-Williams in connection with a double fatal shooting that occurred in Jersey City in 2021.

Rios-Williams, 23, of Jersey City, was convicted of two counts of Murder, one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, four counts of Attempted Murder, four counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

His codefendant, Cooleone McNeil, 25, of Bayonne, was found guilty of first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder and not guilty on the remaining charges in the indictment.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on May 21, 2021, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of Crescent Avenue and Brinkerhoff Street.

Responding officers located six victims with apparent gunshot wounds.

Two of the victims – later identified as Jason Crutcher, 26, and Randolph Black Jr., 25, both of Jersey City – were pronounced dead as a result of their injuries.
