Jersey City Man Drives Into Furniture Store Striking Two Pedestrians

A man attempting to park, pressed the gas pedal instead, ramming into a furniture store injuring two.

Police responded to Kennedy Boulevard shortly before 11 a.m. for a report of a crash.

Upon arrival, police spoke to the driver, a 35-year-old Jersey City man, who told them he was trying to park his 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser when he pressed the gas the car jumping onto the curb. In the process, striking two women and ultimately ramming through the window of the SoHo Mattress and Furnitiure store.

One of the victims, only identified as a 21-year-old Bayonne woman, was thrown through the store's glass. She was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health with unspecified injuries but has since been released.

The second victim, a 60-year-old Bronx woman, was also struck in the accident. She was transported to an area hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

The Jersey City police is investigating the incident.
