Jersey City Man Convicted on All Charges for 2019 Fatal Shooting

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, a Hudson County jury convicted Darius Bolden, 36, of Jersey City, on all counts for his role in the shooting death of Jason Dunbar, 35, of Jersey City, on Tuesday, August 27, 2019.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, Bolden was found guilty of Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 169 Fulton Avenue. 

Prosecutor Suarez said that responding officers found an unresponsive man – later identified as Jason Dunbar, 35, of Jersey City – with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. 

Dunbar was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center and pronounced dead at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. 

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death to be homicide.

Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, August 12, 2022.
