A Jersey City man has been charged with murder following the death of his sister more than seven weeks after she was allegedly assaulted, according to information released by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced that 40-year-old Alerjuan Bradley, of Jersey City, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his sister, 47-year-old Yanesha Bradley.
Authorities said the investigation began at approximately 11:40 p.m. on April 13, 2026, when Jersey City police responded to a reported domestic dispute at a residence on Woodlawn Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found Yanesha Bradley suffering from serious injuries. Investigators allege she had been assaulted by her brother.
She was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment but later died on June 5, 2026.
The Regional Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide, determining that she died from complications related to blunt force injuries.
Following the investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, Alerjuan Bradley was arrested at his Jersey City residence on Friday, July 24.
He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, where he is being held pending his first court appearance.
The investigation remains under the direction of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
