Jersey City Man Charged in Death of 67-Year-Old Girlfriend Found in Apartment

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has arrested and charged Rand March, of Jersey City, with the murder of his 67-year-old girlfriend with whom he shared an apartment.

According to officials, Rand, 65, was arrested at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday, November 23, and has been charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon (knife) for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (knife).

According to police, on Monday, November 23, just before 2 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to an apartment on Court House Place to perform a welfare check on a senior resident. When officers gained access to the apartment, they found a lifeless female, later identified as Kimberly Haston, on the floor with an apparent laceration to her neck.

Police said that Haston was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 3:52 p.m. The findings of the Regional Medical Examiner are pending.

Officials reported that Rand, who shared the apartment with Haston and was in the apartment at the time, was taken into custody by police officers and charged in connection with Haston’s death.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
