A fatal stabbing in Jersey City is under active investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 12:35 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026, on Dwight Street near Bergen Avenue.
Responding officers found an unresponsive man, later identified as 47-year-old Kareem Mack of Jersey City, suffering from multiple apparent stab wounds.
He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1:10 p.m.
During the investigation, officials identified 26-year-old Kyshawn Foster, also of Jersey City, as a person of interest.
He was later charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Foster was taken into custody on Jackson Street in Hoboken and is currently being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
Authorities said the incident is being investigated as an act of domestic violence.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez Mello credited members of the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, the Jersey City Police Department, and the Hoboken Police Department for their work on the case.
