Jersey City Man Arrested at Home in Possession of Drugs with Two Kids Present

Authorities in Hudson County reported on Friday, August 18, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs Task Force arrested a 38-year-old man following a weeks-long narcotics investigation.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Robert Johnson, of Jersey City, is charged with two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute within 1,000 Feet of a School, two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute within 500 Feet of Public Property, two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

According to officials, he was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

In the early morning hours of August 18, the Gangs Task Force, with assistance from Hudson County Regional SWAT, executed a court-authorized search warrant at Johnson’s residence on Van Wagenen Avenue.

The search resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia, officials said.

Officials say two children were present in the home at the time the court-authorized search was conducted.
