Jersey City Man Accused of Filming Patron Using Restroom Inside Lyndhurst Park

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of Raul J. Rodriguez, 33, of Jersey City, on charges of Invasion of Privacy and Possession of Child Pornography.

According to authorities, on the evening, of November 8th, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, in coordination with the Lyndhurst Police Department, apprehended Rodriguez in Riverside County Park South in Lyndhurst for filming a patron using the restroom inside the park.

As a result of the information received, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit initiated an investigation. The investigation revealed that Rodriguez used the camera on a smartphone to record and view an area of the men’s bathroom. 

In addition, the investigation revealed that Rodriguez’s electronic device also contained child pornography, including sexually explicit images and/or videos of prepubescent children. 

The investigation is continuing, but at this time there is no evidence that any children using the park were recorded in the bathroom. 

As a result of the investigation, Rodriguez was arrested on November 8th in Lyndhurst and charged with one count of Invasion of Privacy and one count of Possession of Child Pornography.

According to officials, Rodriguez is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on November 29th.

Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
