The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is looking into a double shooting that killed a person in Jersey City Tuesday night.

According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 11:10 p.m., gunfire rang out in the area of Wilkinson Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive victim suffering a bullet wound in the chest at that location.

The victim was administered CPR at the scene but the 21-year-old man was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center a short time later.

Police say a second person suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound on their arm.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
