Two members of the Neighborhood Bloods street gang have been convicted on multiple federal charges in connection with the execution-style murder of three people in Jersey City in 2017, including a 25-year-old pregnant woman, federal officials announced.
Following a month-long jury trial, Markell Brown, also known as “Sayboy,” and Terence Shaw, also known as “Sweet Meat,” both 37 and of Jersey City, were found guilty of serious racketeering and firearms offenses tied to the January 16, 2017 killings.
The case was announced by Senior Counsel Philip Lamparello.
Prosecutors said the men targeted a rival gang member and his pregnant girlfriend inside an apartment on Fulton Avenue.
Evidence presented at trial showed the murders were carefully planned, including the use of a stolen U-Haul truck and two-way radios.
After the killings, Brown also shot and killed an associate who had accompanied them, authorities said, in an effort to prevent him from cooperating with law enforcement.
The investigation was part of a joint effort involving federal and local authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Newark, under a broader initiative aimed at reducing violent crime in Jersey City.
Brown was convicted on charges including conspiracy and multiple counts of murder in aid of racketeering, while Shaw was convicted on similar counts related to two of the victims.
Jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on one murder count involving Shaw.

Both men face mandatory life sentences on the murder convictions, along with additional consecutive prison terms related to firearms offenses.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 22, 2026.
