Jersey City firefighters quickly brought a fast-moving fire under control Friday night after flames tore through the upper level of a three-story home.
Crews were dispatched to the 100 block of Sherman Avenue around 8:18 p.m. for reports of a house fire.
Arriving units found heavy flames engulfing the third floor of a wood-framed residence, with visible extension threatening neighboring homes.
Firefighters immediately struck a second alarm, followed by a third, to bring in additional manpower.
Multiple hose lines were stretched as crews aggressively attacked the blaze and entered the structure to search for any trapped or injured occupants.
No victims were found.
Firefighters were able to place the fire under control in under 30 minutes, limiting further damage to surrounding houses.
